Minors: Zack Von Rosenberg has another bad start, Eric Avila drives in four

Once again, there will be no recap of the Pirates game. I got home late from work and there is no way I'm staying awake long enough to get one of those in. I should be able to get back to it starting Wednesday.

The Indianapolis Indians, Altoona Curve, Bradenton Marauders, State College Spikes, and GCL Pirates each had the day off. It was a scheduled off day for all five teams. Since all those teams had the day off, I'll do something I don't usually do and wrap up the games for the Dominican Summer League teams. It's kind of difficult to tell who the real prospects are on those teams. But guys do make it. Starling Marte started out down there. Usually the best way to tell who the prospects are is to look at their age and what their signing bonus was.

Low A - West Virginia Power (51-69) - Beat the Greensboro Grasshoppers 9-6. Zack Von Rosenberg pitched 3 1-3 innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out one. Orlando Castro (3-6, 5.25 ERA) got the win after striking out four in three scoreless innings. Robert Kilcrease had three strikeouts in 1 2-3 innings of scoreless relief. Nathan Kilcrease gave up a run on one hit in one inning of work. Jose Osuna (.277) went 1 for 3 and drove in a run. Chris Lashmet (.242) went 2 for 3 and drove in a run. Eric Avila (.270) went 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBI. Francisco Diaz (.326) went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI.

DSL Pirates 1 (37-24) - Beat the DSL Rangers 10-3. Luis Santos (6-3, 2.56 ERA) pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out four. Omar Basulto gave up a run but struck out five in just two innings. Jovany Lopez pitched two scoreless innings. Ulises Montilla (.331) went 2 for 5 with two doubles and an RBI. Daniel Arribas (.297) went 3 for 5 with a double. Maximo Rivera (.370) went 2 for 5 with a double and two RBI.

DSL Pirates 2 (26-32) - Lost to the DSL Yankees 1 2-0. Angel Sanchez (3-6, 4.35 ERA) pitched 4 1-3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out two. Oscar Calderin allowed just one hit in 3 2-3 scoreless innings. Alexander Gutierrez pitched a scoreless inning.
