Minors: Brandon Cumpton picks up 11th win, Clay Holmes has a rare bad start

There will be no recap of the Pirate game today. Not because I'm still in shock because Clint Barmes hit a grand slam. Well, I am, but it's more because I slept through the game.

The West Virginia Power and the GCL Pirates both had the day off on Sunday. It was a scheduled day off for both teams.

Transactions: Juan Cruz was reinstated from the DL and joined the Pittsburgh Pirates so Jared Hughes was optioned to AAA.

AAA - Indianapolis Indians (74-49) - Beat the Columbus Clippers 5-4. Daniel Cabrera (6-6, 4.58 ERA) pitched six innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out seven. Evan Meek gave up a run on one hit in 2-3 of an inning before Doug Slaten came on to get the final out in the seventh. Tim Wood picked up the two inning save for his 17th of the year. Alex Presley (.303) went 1 for 4 and drove in two runs. Brock Holt (.304) went 3 for 5. Jose Tabata (.314) went 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Matt Hague (.281) went 2 for 5 and drove in a run. Yamaico Navarro (.279) went 2 for 4 with a solo home run, his eighth of the year.

AA - Altoona Curve (59-61) - Beat the Trenton Thunder 8-3. Brandon Cumpton (11-9, 3.86 ERA) pitched 5 2-3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out five. Kris Harvey pitched 2 1-3 scoreless innings. Jeff Inman struck out two in one scoreless inning. Adalberto Santos (.385) went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Matt Curry (.297) went 2 for 4 and drove in a run. Oscar Tejeda (.262) went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI. Christian Marrero (.250) went 1 for 4 and drove in a run. Jarek Cunningham (.224) went 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBI. Charles Cutler (.293) went 1 for 3 and drove in a run.

High A - Bradenton Marauders (54-65) - Played a doubleheader with the Palm Beach Cardinals. They won Game One 3-0. Eliecer Navarro (5-6, 3.19 ERA) pitched a seven inning complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out four. Alex Dickerson (.304) went 3 for 4 with a double. Dan Grovatt (.259) went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Benji Gonzalez (.257) went 1 for 3 and drove in a run. They lost Game Two 3-2. Jhonathan Ramos pitched four innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three. Matt Benedict (0-7, 10.00 ERA) took the loss after allowing an unearned run in 1 1-3 innings. Zach Foster pitched a scoreless 2-3 of an inning. Gonzalez went 2 for 4. Justin Howard (.293) went 3 for 3 with a double.

SS - State College Spikes (28-26) - Lost to the Jamestown Jammers 6-1. Clay Holmes (4-2, 1.41 ERA) had a rare bad start, going just 1 1-3 innings and allowing three runs on two hits and five walks with just one strikeout. Lance Breedlove gave up a solo home run in 2 2-3 innings. Josh Smith struck out two but gave up a run on two hits in one inning. Jo-Jo Reyes got his rehab assignment going again and gave up a run on three hits in two innings. Logan Pevny pitched a scoreless inning. Jesus Vasquez (.234) went 1 for 3 with a double and drove in the only run for the Spikes.
